EXPED Carrying System

For a lightly loaded day pack, determining the exact back length is not absolutely crucial. With trekking or mountaineering backpacks, however, it is essential, as only a perfect fit will efficiently transfer the weight to the hips. With heavy loads or backpacks featuring an internal carrying system, the centre of the hip wings should ideally rest on the iliac crest and the rear pad on the sacrum.

How do you measure back length?

To determine the back length, use a tape measure to measure the distance between the base of the shoulders or the level of the 7th cervical vertebra (which you can feel protruding where the neck meets the spine) and the upper edge of the iliac crest.

The Lightning, Ridgeline and Skyline rucksacks are fitted with a unisex carrying system. They offer two adjustable back lengths: S | M and L | XL.

Product Description

The Skyline 20 is a comfortable and versatile companion for day trips with little luggage. It is ideal for day hikes, a wide range of sporting activities, and everyday use.

The ergonomically shaped Air Flow back system is flexible and adapts to your back, no matter what the situation. The slim shape and close-to-body fit ensure a high level of comfort. The soft, airy shoulder straps and a stowable hip belt offer optimum support.

The large zipper opening runs all the way down one side, providing optimum and quick access to the main compartment. With the Skyline, you also have the option of integrating a hydration system. The compartment for the hydration bladder is accessible from the outside.

Practical mesh and zippered pockets on the inside and on the shoulder straps make it easy to organize smaller items of equipment. On the outside, a large front and two side mesh pockets made of elastic fabric provide additional storage space for a water bottle or wet clothes, for example. The front pocket also has a practical helmet holder. You can also easily attach your hiking poles to the Skyline. In wet conditions, an integrated rain cover with reflective logo offers effective protection and visibility.

The bluesign® approved fabric is made from robust recycled polyester.
